Savinijus Katauskas was a true luminary of his generation. Having received his legal education at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, he chose the attorney's path as early as 1972. He entered history as the first attorney in Lithuania to begin independent private practice, founding the country's first independent law office in the spring of 1991. The practice he started later grew into the law firm “S. Katauskas, Katauskaitės ir partneriai”.

Savinijus was not only a talented attorney but also a recognised artist, graphic artist and ex-libris master. His artist's eye let him approach every legal dispute creatively and lent his work in the courtroom a distinctive elegance and lightness. It is thanks to him that in 1999 the unique symbols, emblems and flags of the Lithuanian Bar were born, along with the insignia still worn on advocates' robes today — a source of rightful pride for the country's entire legal community. He often surprised fellow attorneys and members of the legal community with personally created ex-librises presented as gifts, which became a distinctive mark of personal connection and respect. He also created the insignia of the Vilnius University Faculty of Law Alumni Society and initiated the founding of the Vilnius Advocates' Club. For his merits and devotion to the legal community he was awarded the title of Knight of the Badge of Honour of the Lithuanian Bar.

To his students and colleagues, Savinijus Katauskas will always remain an example of unmatched professionalism, intelligence and humanity. He taught never to remain indifferent to another person's fate and readily extended a helping hand to those who needed it most, often providing assistance pro bono. His unshakeable values, wisdom and the work he left behind remain the foundation and guiding light of our firm.
